Peak shaving

Peak hours is the timeframe of the day where electricity demand is greatest. The peak hours in the electricity consumption usually occurs during the central part of the daytime, when one kWh of energy can reach costs up to 90% more than energy sell between midnight and 8:00 a.m.

The solar PV boom experienced in many countries is showing how solar energy production can contributes to the shaving of peak electricity prices.

During the day in fact, high solar production supplies big quantities of energy at zero cost, eroding   the energy demand from conventional sources and therefore shaving the energy peak price .
